Susanna's Firsts

Last Monday, Larry and I took Susanna to "Kung Fu Panda". It was the first movie that we took Susanna to the theatre for. She did really good. She didn't talk or fuss. She mostly sat on Larry's lap. She really enjoyed the movie too. When Wall-E gets to Madison we might take her to that one too, (you know the parents enjoy the movies too).

Friday we bought a boat (pictures in a future post). So we all had the first ride in the new boat. It is nice and big. Of course then we were out in it Saturday and Sunday too. Are you thinking, "Saturday, were you nuts?" That would be a correct statement. We were all (Larry, Susanna, Doug, Lynette, Susanna and I) were all bundled in warm clothes and rain gear and set out for Lake Madison. It was nice going with the wind but when we had to go against it to get back to the dock, now that was another story. We all got soaked!!! Doug, Larry's dad thought it was great fun!! The waves were pretty big with the wind gusts that day.

This morning the three of us went to Sioux Falls to return some items from the remodel of our basement bathroom and to get Susanna a big girl bike. We told her that we had a surprise for her. So when we got to Walmart we asked her if she wanted a bike. She was sooooo excited. She rode it through Walmart to the checkout.

Today's weather was a lot nicer for boating. Susanna fishing.

Spare Time

When Susanna had her eye surgery in February I was staying home with her for two days while she recovered. I needed something to do. I got out some books that I had not read yet. I am a BIG Nicholas Sparks fan. If you don't know who he is, he wrote Message In a Bottle, A Walk to Remember and the Notebook, all made into movies. Since then I have made time to read here and there. Recently I have read a series of book called The Red Glove Series by Karen Kingsbury. They are really good inspirational books. I loved them all. My favorite was

Maggie's Miracle. They are smaller books and only have about 150-170 pages so it is easy and fast reading. I have started reading another author Traci DePree. The one book of hers that I have read is called "A State of Grace". It is GOOD, great story with surprises at the end.

I am now starting to read "A Can of Peas" by Traci Depree. When I get into it more I will let you know how it is.

Boating

The last time we all (Larry, Susanna and I) went in the boat I did not take my camera. Well this time I did. We along with Larry's parents went in their boat to Lake Herman. Susanna was so excited. Here are some pictures from Saturday.

Fishing with her Cars fishing pole.

Sidewalk Chalk

Today Beth, our neighbor watched Susanna since our daycare was sick. Hope your feeling good Tracy and Happy Birthday. Anyway, Susanna and Beth went outside and drew on the sidewalk with chalk. So it came as no surprise when I got home that she wanted to go chalk outside. After supper we went out and I drew a Hopscotch track. I taught her to play, well at least to hop through it, I am not sure if there is a game involved or not. Then we played some fish game and traced ourselves in chalk. I don't think I know of anymore games, do you?

As you can notice by the video there are two tracks. The first one I drew was a little big for Susanna so I had to draw a smaller one for her but she did great on both of them.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Cow!!! Junior finally won!! I was so excited, he has not won in 76 races. For those of you that have no idea what I am talking about that is a little over two years. Congrats to Dale Jr!! I was so nervous that he was going to run out of gas. Before the race was over Larry said he wasn't that lucky. Hopefully he can keep it up. He has been really consisted this season, he just needs to keep it up for a shot at the championship. Susanna did not get to see the end of the race, she was taking a nap from all the playing at the park. But she was wearing her Dale Jr t-shirt on Sunday.

Crazy Days!!

This week has been crazy. June is our busiest time at work. Trying to balance everything by June 30th. The rest of the month is only going to get worse. Wednesday night my brain was so fried. I did not want to think about anything when I got home. We didn't even eat supper until 8:30pm and even then it was only chicken from Pizza Ranch. Thursday was no better but Larry had made supper so that was wonderful. That night it also stormed and rained a lot. I think our rain gauge said 2.5 inches. The creek in town was flowing to its seems. Some places the road was washed over. Luckily it has not rained too much since but we are still in for more. Our basement stayed dry. I think I went down every hour to check. We got water in the basement last year around this time when it rained a lot, about 2 inches in the northwest part of the basement in the bedroom and bathroom. More on the clean up from last year in another post.

Today my mom came to visit for the day. Her and Susanna went to the park five times I think. One of the times Susie fell asleep in the swing and grandma had to carry her back to the house. Grandma needed a rest after that. We played lawn games in the backyard and had a good time with grandma. After that Susanna wanted to play with her Cars fishing pole. Here she is trying to get it untangled, (not sure what she was doing since it was not tangled at all, but it was still cute to watch).

Sorry, no pictures

I know I know. I have been bad about posting. Not that I have been really busy I just have not done it. Last Wednesday my mom and I went to see an Eat Nose and Throat doctor in Aberdeen. I am not sure if it was a wasted trip or not. She does not have a sinus infection and does not have to have sinus surgery, that is the good news. The bad news that we still don't have a clue to what was wrong when she fainted. She now as an appointment with a cardiologist to see if he can find anything.

Friday night Susanna got her first ride in a boat. Larry wanted to see how the motor ran after he gave it a tune up so we went for a little ride on Lake Madison. It was not too windy and Susie really enjoyed herself. She even put her toy Cars fishing pole in the water. I do not have any pictures of this cause I did not want to get my camera wet.

Sunday was the Children's Miracle Network telethon at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Each year the NICU hosts a Grad Party for the kids that have been in the NICU. We get to see favorite nurses and other families that we have gotten to know over the years. I am also the Vice President for the Parent Advisory Council of the NICU, which helps with the grad party. Since we did not get the chance to see family that was in the NICU when we were, Susanna and I visited them at their house. It was so nice to visit and see their new little girl. Congrats Kami and Jason.

Since Susie and I were in SF I did not get to see the end of the race. All though I did see the crash that took out Jr and some other top runners. When I found out that Kyle Busch won again, I just wanted to scream. I can't stand that guy. dkfjlkadjflkdjflsdjflkjdslf!

Susanna was a little under the weather Monday night with a fever so I stayed home with her today. She is just fine today, driving me up the wall. Her and I will both be glad to go back to Tracy's tomorrow.
