Book Update

I told you that I would update after I finished reading my latest book, A Can of Peas by Traci DePree. It was a GOOD book. I would recommend it to anyone. It is the first in a three part series. The next one is Dandelions in a Jelly Jar. Since my last post about books I also read Dear John and The Choice my Nicholas Sparks. I think I have read all of his books now so I will have to wait until he releases another. If anyone has other recommendations for books, let me know.

Racin'

I am very happy that the Cup boys didn't race this weekend so I didn't have to see Kyle Busch win again. Next weekend is the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis, IN. It will be a long drive but it will be worth it. We are actually staying in IL. I wanted to get a hotel on the road that we will take to get there. I am getting so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Dale Jr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last Saturday night while the Cup boys were racing, Larry and I were watching "Fools Gold" with Kate Hudson. It is very funny. Anyway, I had the race on in the kitchen and would check from now and then on the progress. I also checked during commercials, go figure. The last time I checked I saw Kyle doing donuts in the grass. I just screamed. I hissed and moaned for about half an hour. I was so mad. Why can he not be stopped??!?!?!?!?! If he wins this weekend when I am there it will be a long ride home.

Daddy

Yesterday, Friday, July 18th was the fourth anniversary of my father's unexpected passing. Each year I drive home to have lunch with my mom and then we go to the cemetery to visit daddy. The first year was the hardest, I think we spend three hours there. This year it was about 30 minutes. That sounds bad, doesn't it? I suppose over the years it gets easier in some way. I mean I still think about my dad at least once a day. This year Susanna came too since it was on a Friday so we just stayed the weekend. Susanna and I bought four Gerber daisies to place on daddy's stone. She knows that she has a Grandpa Jim. I told her on the way that we were going to visit Grandpa Jim. I had a lot of questions to answer after that. This was not the first time she has been to the cemetery but the first time she kept asking where is he. When we got to the cemetery she asked if he was hiding. How do you explain this to a four year old? I tried the best I could that Grandpa Jim was in heaven looking down on us but that we could not see him and this is where we come to visit. After awhile I think she gave up and changed the subject. My dad passed away a month and a half after Susanna came home from the hospital in 2004. He was able to see her from the beginning and then see her home. I hurts me that he is not here to play with her and watch her grow up. He would call me every night while Susie was in the hospital to see how she was doing. He had to get his "nightly update" he would say. During her time in the NICU I would visit her by myself on Thursday nights while Larry worked. I would leave the hospital about 10-10:30pm and I would call my dad and talk to him all the way home. I miss having those conversation with him. We could talk for hours, imagine that, like father like daughter. LOL!

Tubin!!! Part 2

After our fun filled day of tubing on Saturday we wanted to try it again on Sunday. Jake was a little sore from his crash off the tube so it was just the three of us. We can't tube with the three of us since one is only 4 years old. So we just went for a boat ride around Lake Madison. We decided since we were not going to be out for long that we would try and take Sadie (the dog). She did really good. I think she liked the wind in her face. You know the saying that kids can fall asleep anywhere. They can.
I think she was still tired from the day before. My poor little Susanna.

Tubin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday we went tubing on Lake Madison with Larry's brother Jake. It was a lot of fun. I have never been tubing. Up first was Susanna and I. We did really good until I was trying to go forward on the tube and I told Larry to slow down and then Susanna and I went head first in the water. Although Jake did not catch that on camera.
Susanna was not much for tubing after that. We did get her to sit on it when we anchored.

Next up was Jake. He had a lot of fun until he hit a big wave and his head hit the tube. Awhile after that he was flying off the tub. He is a little sore today, as we all are. Then I went again, this time by myself. Larry kept the boat to a slower speed so I enjoyed the ride. Then Susanna thought she would pull me in.

Susanna got to drive the boat again. As usual she sheered it in a circle.

Susanna by 6:45pm that night.

REALLY??

This is really getting old. I am getting quite sick of Kyle Busch winning. Jr had a strong car but when push came to shove he ended up 8th I think. There was a big crash as at the end so I am not sure how he finished. On another racing note, I have just gotten two free tickets to the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis on the 27th of July. It is a 12-13 hour drive that a friend of mine and I will take the Saturday before and come home the Monday after. It will be so awesome to go to Indianapolis. I can't wait and it is not that far away. If any of you have been there and have any tips please let me know.

Speaking of letting me know. I know quite a few people read this blog. I am asking that you take a minute here and there to post a comment so I know who is reading this. I think I have almost 500 hits so far. Here are the instructions to post a comment:
